DLA contacting school

I applied for DLA for my son (he’s six with suspected ASD/ODD) and he’s currently waiting to be assessed. I didn’t have much evidence as he has not been assessed yet, so I just had IEPs and a pediatrician report which didn’t really say much except he’s been referred due to ASD traits. Today I have received a letter saying they are requesting a report from school. There are a lot of issues in school which I have detailed on the form, in fact just this week there was a biting incident and he requires frequent staff intervention to prevent him harming himself or others, and school recently said they want to start the statementing process as realistically he needs a 1-1, but unfortunately like everything else there is a wait. Based on what I’ve read online I’m panicking, as many people seem to get turned down after they contact school. But I am also confident they will back me up. Anyone have any experience of this?
