What can I do about noisy neighbours?

I'm at the end of my tether. Our attached house - we are in a semi - is rented out and has been since last Aug. They are a group of 20 somethings. The pattern seems to be a party every 3 weeks or so. The final straw came when they had one on xmas eve and it went on till nearly 2 am. Is that unreasonable? What can I do? They never warn us so every Sat we sit anxiously waiting to see if they will have another??? PLease help it is affecting our health with the stress.

Been to the sales and it was mad. Bought some new jeans and a skirt. No noise last night - seems the crossbow man has taken quite a few of them away, as he hasn't been back since last night. He doesn't live htere but comes around quite regularly. Looks a bit like a vampire with long black greasy hair. Very attractive, what with his crossbow and all!

are you around Minstrel and others??

Latest update;

I have spoken to the letting agents and explained the problem. The manager has promised me he will personally visit them this evening and get it stopped?! He has also said he will write to them as well.

He showed me their lease and there is a clause about not causing a nuisance to neighbours. Unfortinately they have a 12 month contract so presumably they will be with us till next Aug .

I also stopped a policeman in the street today, and asked about firing crossbows in gardens. It does seem that this is legal! Although he said if I felt in danger I should call them out.

Fingers crossed that this works.

Hi Janey and Judge, sorry missed your previous posts. Janey - hope the letting agents sort things out for you and you get some peace at long last. My neighbours went out for New Years night so all was well in the Minstrel household, there was other fireworks in the street but at least they weren't right underneath ds's window or hitting my doors this time!!
Keep posting on this thread with your latest.
Happy 2005

news update;

well late afternoon the letting agent came around to my house. she said there was no reply on any of their phone numbers - their employers all thought they were in Slovakia.

Anyway there were two people in the house... She knocked on door for 10 mins. Music so loud she wasn't heard at first. Then the lights went out.... In the end she had to get 2 of the young lads from her office around... Finally got access. The man in their pretended in didn't speak English....

Cut a long story short, she is furious with them. They tried to make out we were liars.... Told her lots of lies! She has told me (and them) if there is one more complaint about noise then she will evict them!!!!!

I have to phone her first thing on Monday to tell her what happens over this weekend.. So relieved, lets just hope either they stop these parties or if they don't that she does evict them!!!

Hi janeybops, im sat here really feeling for what you must have been through i have been through it before ,but what s worse for me anway is that the resason im up at such a stupid hour during the kids holidays is yes u guessed it blinking neighbours.Her boyfriend moved out, she got new stereo i thought they were bad b4 but christmas eve i was treat to pounding music till 4am,yes i too know its christmas co swe poorparents have to play the santa game without being found out .How can you do that with the kids being woken up.
Well christmas is long gone and i hate to comp[lain i have 3 lively kids ,butits no fun onher days off we cnt hear the tv,or theres at least a distant thud all day and at night it s often above our tv so we have to turnit up disturbing the children.Tonight has to be the best i have lived here 4 years and not being disturbed by the neighbours having sex ever..lol Im laughing but he rbed is right up against our wall were having probs with our 3 year old so he is temporarily back in our room,for us all to be woken by her having sex .No im not jealous or anythign crazy or am i just being unreasonable??????its just the straw that has broke the camels back oh and my mirror when I lost my normally stable temper and threw my shoe at the wall in anger as when i have a migraine like now it takes an earthquake to wake me now its great her earth was moving but does she have to move our whole house waking us and kids as well???????
I know this is just living but i didnt think living in a victorian terrace would be this bad...its not woth the quaint ness., Am i losing it eminem style or am i justified and does anyone have any advice if i could move inthe morning i would but houses inthis area are too expensive just now even though we own this one .
