Self Assessment registration form for High Income Child Benefit Charge.

Hello someone please shed some light on this. I'm looking at the self assessment registration form that needs to be filled out for the HICBC and the child benefit section is confusing me. It says you can enter the tax year end date the charge applies but there's no option for this, only the option to add when you started getting child benefit. What date do I add here? Can I still add the end date which would be 05/04/2024? This will be the first time doing this and I'm panicking I'll make mistakes.

There is a small help button next to the box you have ringed what does that say?

It just explains how to enter the tax date for whatever year you're doing the form for.

I managed to find a paper form. You enter 05/03/2024 because 2023/24 is the first year you have gone over £50k.

Can we do this yet? The tax year hasn't even finished yet?

I wasn't going to do it now I was just looking at it. Still plenty of time until deadline.

Remember you’re working a year behind almost so any tax for this year (April onwards) doesn’t need to be declared until 2026. I just paid my bill for 22-23, I didn’t claim any CB in 23-24 but just signed up again to receive from april 7th and that won’t need to be declared as I say until 2026.

No we have until October 5th 🙂
