Switch Guarantee Problem

Hi

I switched from RBS to TSB on 15th Feb. Everything has gone over & it switched a payment made in error quickly too last week.

My problem it, my DH transferred a sum of money to me at 8:30 this morning to cover DD nursery bill & his half of the mortgage but he paid it into my old account. It hasn't transferred over & it's a fair amount so I'm worried.

I called my old bank, the account is closed so they couldn't really help,& they said it will bounce back to him which I'm sure under the switch guarantee it shouldn't/doesn't do. So I phoned my new bank who said a transfer may take up to 24hrs & DH should speak to his bank tomorrow if it hasn't arrived. I was under the impression my new bank is supposed to sort any problems under the guarantee.

Now I run the risk of not being able to pay my mortgage on 1st March & this is stressing me out so much. I'm also probably going to pay our nursery invoice late.

What should I do? Who would the correct person/bank be to sort this? I'm just panicking that it won't be in my bank tomorrow & will cause me so many problems.

I've switched many times over the last few years & never had an issue & any redirects were always pretty instant. Thank you

I'm sure its the originating bank that would have to trace the payment. It has likely gone into a holding account and will either bounce back or be manually sent to the new account.

Thanks. I was under the impression that the CASS was to stop this from happening. Doesn't help that DH hasn't got a clue what his banking telephone password is either 🤦‍♀️

Hopefully it should be automatically applied to your new account. It does say in the guarantee that they are supposed to go across to the new details automatically

Theyre sent to your new account for quite a few months after to prevent this exact situation. Don't worry, you will find it appears soon
