Hey, UC cancelled my claim because I didn't accept a commitment. They've said it's going to a decision maker if they can reopen the claim. I was due to get paid next week but they've said it can take months with a decision maker. My wages won't stretch until I get a new payment from the new account I've had to make. Any ideas on how to speed the process?!

There’s not much you can do tbh.

When your claim reopens make sure you check in every day or so to check your journal and your ‘to-do’ list as they don’t always notify you if something pops up. When you sign up for UC part of the agreement is that you will regularly check your journal, or as you’ve found, they will just close your claim.

Was it just that you were late accepting the comittment and 'missed the boat'?

They should resolve that pretty quickly. If you wilfully refused a commitment then that's a different ball game.

Hey! Yea I just forgot! I keep ringing everyday but there's nothing they can do! It was just a genuine mistake of not looking at the to do list and accepting a commitment!

You really need to check your account twice a week. I do this regularly just in case there are commitments to accept.

Mama1026 · 28/02/2024 10:30

It's too late for that now unfortunately, I'm just asking for info on what happens next.

Have you already started a new claim?
Have you tried for a new claim advance?

Unfortunately, there’s no way to speed it up and when it’s referred to a decision maker there’s no deadline for a decision.

Have they confirmed it’s actually with a decision maker now?

Mama1026 · 28/02/2024 14:48

I've applied for a new claim but that'll be until the end of next month! They've not mentioned an advance so maybe I'll ask them! Yes it's with a decision maker now but they said there's no time limits! 😣

They tell you very clearly that you need to accept your commitments within 7 day, otherwise your claim might be affected.

Mama1026 · 28/02/2024 14:56

I wasn't notified I have said it's too late for that as it's already been closed but thanks for stating that!
