Investment bond - probate

My husband sadly passed away from cancer at the age of 39. When he was little, his parents set up an investment bond for him and they are his trustees (both still alive). The bond is a little over £20,000 now.

Would this have to go through probate or can they as his trustees cash in the bond? Thank you!!
