If you have a 17 year old with a part time job what do they pay for with their wages? We pay for our DS's spotify/gym membership/contact lenses/clothes.

She pays for going out with friends. We cover phone, Spotify, necessary clothes, things for school. She gets no pocket money though

At 17 ours paid for days out with friends, most of their clothes (bar school uniform, dance costumes) and fancier cosmetics than I’m prepared to spend money on.

even at 20 and 22 I still pay their phone bills! 😂😂

We cover gym phone transport etc as they're still at school. Bil charges his for rent - 50% of part time wages and pays for nothing except food and a roof over their head.

Dd2 is 18, she works weekends and pays for her petrol and socialising. I do fill her tank up once a month as she uses it for college and it’s the same as I’d have spent on her monthly bus fare anyway so think it’s fair. She also drives herself about loads of other places so she pays for extra petrol.
We pay for everything else.
Dc1 is at uni and we still pay phone, subscriptions (Netflix/spotify etc, just have family accounts so they continue to use them), her gym and travel back home if she wants to come home for a weekend.

Nearly 17 year old pays for her own clothes, numerous coffees and snacks when she's out, Spotify and makeup.

I pay for her phone, some clothes and all treats etc when we're out together.

My 17yr old does dog walking and other adhoc jobs

his money goes on luxuries to be honest

he pays off an expensive MacBook rather than the chromebook the others had

he buys plants 😆

he buys things on steam

his money that he earns pays for what we consider over essentials

we pay for things like DoE, anything academic, bike/repairs, gym membership, phone, clothes within reason

we will pay for driving lessons when he starts just like we did for swimming as it’s an essential life skill

Mine pays for fuel for his moped, gym membership and clothes / socialising.

We pay for moped insurance and MOT ( and bought it initially), phone and driving lessons.

We cover the phone and transport costs and normal clothes. Also pay for Spotify. DS pays for his social life and any expensive clothes and other stuff that he wants.
