DLA has been renewed 3 weeks before expiry date so will carer allowance just continue?

Hello,

My daughter who is now 6 years has been receiving DLA (middle care rate) for 3 years and her current award is due to expire 13th march 2024. I received the DLA renewal form beginning of November 2023 and returned the completed form at the end of November 2023. I received a payment yesterday which came early and a different amount.
So I called DLA today in the morning and was explained the payment I received was for low rate mobility as my daughter has been awarded this and I was told she will still get middle care rate. The decision was made on the 12th of Feb and that I should receive a letter soon to explain this.

I am getting carer allowance and I haven't yet received a letter from CA indicating that it may stop as DLA is due to expire on 13th March.
So if DLA has been awarded and in plenty of time before expiry date of current award, so a payment will not be missed as a decision has already been made, so what happens with caret allowance.
Once I received the DLA new award letter which should arrive soon as told on the phone will CA be renewed once I have spoken to CA or will I still need to fill in a form for CA.

I have read online for a few people if the DLA has been renewed early before the date of expiry and they are still getting middle/high rate of care the CA continued after speaking to the team on the phone, which makes sense because if DLA hasn't stopped so CA should continue it shouldn't be classed as a new claim for CA.

Sorry for the long post x

Yes - that was my experience. Only about 3 years ago, so I doubt its changed.

@Redshoeblueshoe thank you for your reply.
I am hoping that it is straight forward because if DLA is continuing, decision has been made in plenty of time before current award ends then CA should continue.

@Donnagl
