Insuring DD on our car - struggling!!

DD was with Marmalade as a learner, she’s now passed but our current insurer won’t allow us to buy a ‘new driver’ policy through Marmalade. So far, all the other insurers I’ve called have said the same. So who will insure 2 parents and allow a teen driver to take out a Marmalade policy for the same car??

I’ve spent 2 hours on this so far, so any help would be fabulous!

I think you are maybe asking for the wrong thing. You can pay for Marmalade to insure DD in the times she needs to drive on your car for a day, a week, a month. You keep your own insurance, with whoever, she gets to drive your car when needed.

Or, you put her in as a named driver on any policy you may already have, or choose to move to another company, for you all to be on one policy.

Or just buy her a car and have a multicar policy, which is what we have. Three cars, DH and I on all of them, DD only on hers, and us as named drivers. We got a discount on ours because of the extra car!

@KnittedCardi thanks, I think you’re right… I don’t think I need to ‘declare’ to an existing policy that I’m taking a bolt-on insurance for DD.
So strange that all the insurers I spoke to today really didn’t know what I was talking about 😆

Sorry just jumping on here as DD has her test in a couple of weeks so am I right in thinking that me and DH can keep our existing policy and I can take out a separate policy for the same car with Marmalade for DD?

@Princesspollyyy i know I know 😆 I was so baffled by talking to the insurance companies…..which I shouldn’t have done!!
@Youarenotseriouspeople you are correct!!!

Not just Marmalade, we use Veygo and find them really good. They are owned by Admiral.
