Uber taking tip automatically

I took an Uber yesterday for a short journey and when I got back, I got an email thanking me for my payment of the fare, and then another one thanking me for the £3 tip.

This isn't about the ins and outs of the etiquette around tipping but I'm really annoyed that either Uber (or the driver...?) are able to just add on and take an amount of their choosing from my card.

Has anyone else had this happen?

I found the info below on Google because if something is not right, in my opinion it's the situation you found your self in with Uber.

I presume it may be in their small print, but can't confirm.

More transparency is needed, they need to make sure passengers are aware of extra charges before they book their journey.

Why did Uber charge me a tip?
Tips are charged from your card automatically if within 30 minutes after the end of the ride you gave the driver a positive rating (or no rating at all) and tapped Done. No tip is given if within 30 minutes after the end of the ride you gave the driver a negative rating and tapped Done.

That only applies if you have a default tip set up, which I don't.
