Child Benefit by Post

Has anyone had any experience of Child Benefit application by post? Just looking for a little clarification on the process.

As part of my divorce settlement it was agreed that my ex-wife would give up her claim for Child Benefit for our daughter and I would apply instead.

Ex-wife has surrendered her claim by email about a month ago.

I went online to put in my own new claim for Child Benefit. Somewhere along the online process it decided that my claim needed to be completed as a postal application instead. I had to print off a fully completed form, sign it and post it to the Child Benefit office in Newcastle. It said no evidence or anything else was needed.

I'm just a bit confused why my online claim became a postal claim. Also from reading online, I have read that it now may take up to 3 months to process my claim. Is this correct? Has anyone else had an online claim become a postal claim like this?

Thanks!

Hi op just wondering how you got on with this? And how long did it take in the end? Thank you in advance!
