ESA to UC - help

Leeuk1 · 04/02/2024 08:52

Hi I started a new claim for UC on December 3rd 2023
Got our first payment of UC payment on the 9th of January

But with a deduction of payment

As this is an average of other benefits that you're continuing to claim
My name
Employment and Support Allowance
minus‑ £494.43

I did question it they said

Hi Lee,
I can see ESA Payments made to you were on the 5th December £472.60, 19th December £472.60 and 28th December £36.25.
Therefore the ESA payments are a Deduction, which are shown on the Award.
Please clarify which part of the Award payment you believe to be incorrect ?

Okay I also thought that you can continue getting your ESA for 2 weeks without any issues with deductions?

I have also checked my statement for February and it's saying they're going to take the same deduction of
-£494.43 again

But I haven't received a full ESA payment since December the 19th 2023

Is ESA Contribution Based/New Style either in whole or in part?

Leeuk1 · 04/02/2024 10:00

Last time I checked they said I was on both income based and Contribution

But I have been on ESA for years

Would that matter what it is because I haven't received any ESA income fully since December 19th

So it looks like my ESA claim is closed

What should happen is that the CB element would continue and convert to New Style though that for the most part is a difference without real change.

The IB element would cease and you should get 14 days 'run on' as a gift from HMG.

The continuing CB element would reduce UC £/£.

As this is your first payment and it looks as though it's not correct I'd suggest giving Help to Claim a call on 0800 144 8 444.

Hi thanks I'll phone them this would be my 2nd universal credit payment not the first

As when my February statement went live it's saying the same deductions as like I'm getting ESA still
