I’ve just gone through our family budget for December and we spent £1650.26 in December on our food and eating out. This includes our Xmas food and drinks, meals out and drinks out in New Years. A family of 4. It’s more that we usually spend my about £500 on food and eating out. How does this compare to your family? I am aware all budgets will be different.

That’s miserable why even look back at it? Have you left yourself in financial hardship that you need to learn from?

OP that sounds similar to us, in fact ours was probably more as we usually spend a lot on groceries. We did two really big meals out with friends plus a night away on NYE and a night away during Twixmas both of which involved wining and dining.
My DH and I also had separate meals out with our own friends but that comes from different a different pot of money. We spent a lot on Christmas food and none of it got wasted and we enjoyed it all.
My DH also ordered himself a big wine hamper.
