A little while ago I was I was talking to someone on a train who had given up work just to trade. She said she had started with no experience and worked from social media tips buying and selling. She said she used Coinbase.

I now wish I had asked more questions- where are these buying and selling tips?

Does anyone do this?

She made it sound very simple - she said it's just really a case of buying low then selling high.

A little while ago I did matched betting and joined a telegram channel where they told you what to do - this was great but then when free offers ran out it became less lucrative.

Is there anything similar?

Tia

Don't touch anything like this with a bargepole. It's rife with scammers and pump/dumpers, and even if it's not it's hugely volatile.

Yes, it is. But guessing when the lows and the highs are going to be is literally gambling. I have some crypto and know a lot of people in the crypto world (and DH’s company is a risk analytics and insurance vehicle for crypto transactions) but the savviest among them know that, however carefully they’re watching the market for patterns which indicate when they should buy and sell, it’s all still very much a lot of partially educated guesswork.

Anybody who claims to know the “secret” of how to make shedloads of money in crypto with low risk and / or is chucking more money than they can afford to lose into it is leading you up a blind alley and a fool. By all means if you have a few hundred or thousand going spare that you wouldn’t miss too much, join some crypto forums and groups, learn a bit about the market and the cyclical bear and bull run patterns and have a bit of fun with the end goal of maybe seeing a return if you get lucky. Don’t touch it otherwise.

I recently saw Crypto described as the men's equivalent of an MLM.

This should tell you all you need to know. Don't do it.

It's gambling on extremely volatile factors. Guess work basically

It is possible to develop the skills to consistently trade crypto profitably (or any other market for that matter) but it takes a lot of self reflection, struggle and hard work. It's not possible to be successful over the longer term simply following tips from others.
