AMEX Avios or points?

Hello all!

I currently have the Platinum Cashback Everyday Credit Card, but I think the cashback offer is very boring. I use it for everything and pay it back in full every month, but I don't see any benefits (for me personally) to the cash back paying off a little bit of my bill once a year on my 'payout' month.

I'm thinking of getting the American Express®Rewards Credit Card (the free one); does anyone have this? If so, what are your thoughts about it, and are you happy with it?

I could also go for the BA Amex, but I haven't really travelled much in my life to take advantage of this...

I have the Gold Preferred Rewards one and it's only really worth it if you travel. I'd stick with the everyday cashback. The US ones offer perks like free streaming services etc but we don't get that over here, it's a shame really.

I have the AMEX platinum. It costs me £250 a year, but gives me double Avios points and a companion voucher per year (for a free flight with me in any class, or mine at half the cost). I have had a long haul business class return flight (paid with Avios points), with a free companion nearly every year since I’ve had it. Worth every penny to me.

How do you get the fee for £250?

It’s a card with extra benefits. You need to spend less each year to get the companion voucher and you earn more points on each purchase.

@AnnieSnap
I have Amex myself so know about the fee, just curious how your Platinum Card fee is only £250, yet the advertised fee is £650.

I think @AnnieSnap is describing the Amex BA Premium, not the Platinum

It’s a different card. Coincidentally, I actually rang AMEX yesterday in alarm when I came across something mentioning the £650 fee. I’m not prepared to pay that and worried it had gone up in price and I’d have to cancel it before my annual renewal date. Thankfully, I was reassured that mine is still £250 and the other one is more aimed at business users.
