Hi,

dh and I are hoping to do some work on house in 2025/26. We don’t have the funds yet, so need to save. I’ve done a budget that would see us save about £10k over the next 12 months. I’ve factored in £250 each for dh and I to have for personal discretionary spending. Neither of us have expensive hobbies etc so I think this is fine. Dh wants £500 per month for himself. I think that this is a lot for discretionary spends. AIBU?

We have £300 each and manage fine on that. What on earth does he spend £500 on now?

No you're not.

What does he normally buy for himself each money? Is that for work lunches etc too?
