Question about universal credit

I'm considering ending my marriage and would need to claim universal credit to top up my earnings. I currently work 14 hours a week and my children are 12 and 11.

My question is would they be hounding me to look for more work due to my kids ages? My 11 yo has autism and emotional based school avoidance and so the 14 hours working for a fanily member is about all i feel i can manage for the time being. Any other l job and i would have been sacked im sure because of the amount of time off i have to take with my child. Im waiting on a decision for dla for said child. Also i am on tablets for depression.

Would they take all this into account? Ive never claimed any kind of benefit before.

If your child is receiving at least middle rate care component of DLA then you can be on your Uc account as his carer and would not be expected to increase hours unless you wished to.
Sorry just seen you are waiting for a decision on DLA - you cannot be except until that is awarded but a compassionate work coach may not push you too much in the meantime..
