DLA Renewal

Hi guys, just got my son's DLA renewal letter. Existing claim ends 4th Feb and new one starts 5th Feb. Get paid every 4 weeks on a Tuesday with a payment due tomorrow (16th Jan) so assuming this will be the last payment under existing claim? New letter says first payment will be first Wednesday after new claim date but doesn't say it will be 4 weekly like last one did. Wondering what happens to remaining payment due between tomorrow and 4th Feb as I think DLA is paid in arrears? So confused? Then as new letter doesn't say 4 weekly, will it be weekly going forward? Wondered if anyone had this where the old and new claim don't quite tie in and what happened? The thought of trying to phone them fills me with dread so thought I'd check if anyone on here had similar? Thanks!

You might not notice a difference in the payments. They're always 4 weekly. If they owe you money, you'll just get a partial payment. Don't worry, they will make sure you get the right amount of money.

Hi does anyone no how long before award ends do you get your Decision on weather your child qualifies again award is due to run out in march and I’ve sent everything back around October - November deadline was 25th December so we’ll before then but I’ve still not heard anything thanks in advance x

It's not an old claim/new claim. It's the same thing just a renewal, the payments should juts continue the same (unless new award differes)

@treath ok Thankyou for replying ,, do you no how long it takes to get a decision on a renewal and if it goes past the end date will I still be paid until a decision is made or do the payments stop until a decision is made again x?

treath · 20/01/2024 16:33

Sorry I was replying to the OP, my comment was not related to your question. I don't know how long.

Renewals are prioritised so it will be done before it runs out. The decision will usually be a few days/a week or two max before the end day irrespective of when you sent the form back.
