UC50 form for hg

i've been signed off the whole of work since i was around 11/12 weeks pregnant due to hyperemesis, currently 29 + 3 and on maternity leave now. universal credit have referred me to a work capability assessment (LWRCA, uc50 form thing)

i received the letter and sent it off, filled in, but actually questioning why i need to do one? since the doctors signed me off my whole pregnancy and my work are completely understanding of my situation.

what's going to happen if they want me to do a face to face appointment? surely i shouldn't be looking for work/be in work because of what UC say and not my doctors/my own work...?

You have no work commitments after 28 weeks I think. Have you sent them your matB1 form? The UC50 is to assess people with long term health conditions wheras your illness is pregnancy related and will no doubt stop. Do you still have HG now? I think even if you were awarded LCWRA ( the highest outcome of the work capability assessment) it would be a very short term award given that this is likely to improve within the next couple of months. The UC50 form being sent to you would be automatically triggered by you handing in sick notes for 21 days, then people sent the form back and wait to be assessed. It is a way of people with long term health conditions not having to look for work and getting extra money on their claim.

Hi OP, any updates? I just had to fill one out too and have a telephone appointment with them in two weeks time. I also found the whole thing quite odd?

@mamahg hey! an appointment i had got cancelled since im on maternity leave and didnt put another fit note through. im still confused to be honest! i can only put it down to then trying to crack down on benefit fraud 🤷🏻‍♀️

if you're 29 weeks and over they can't make you look for work/attend work related activities ETC. i'm pretty sure it'll maybe increase your uc? i have no idea!
