My son will be 18 in June. He's thinking about his next steps education/training/job wise.

He's not ready for or thinking about University at this stage. He's currently doing 2 BTEC courses at 6th form and due to finish in June time roughly.

At the moment he's thinking of supplementing them with another course and going to college for a year, maybe 2.

I'm trying to plan financially for the future and know I'll lose tax credits if he chooses to do an apprenticeship or get a full time job. I'm fully prepared for this, will support whatever he decides and will take on more hours at work (currently an apprentice student nurse)

Does anyone know which courses count as approved training etc and that I'd still receive tax credits, child benefit for him?

Please note this is NOT me trying to be grabby in any way whatsoever. I'm just trying to plan ahead financially. It's his choice and I will work round whatever he decides is best for him.

So grateful for any help

He'll only be entitled to CB until he's 19 ie for one more academic year.

They would need to be the equivalent level to A levels not any higher I believe.
