MORTGAGE COMPANY HAVE DATE WRONG.....[SHOCK]
I had this letter though my door today. It was obviously forwaded on the vendor of the property we ae buying (has that address and our names and last weeks date on it). This is a concern in itself as these are private details.
However the date stated that completion for new mortgage is 19th March and not 20th as is on the contract. Now I am panicing. Will we end up with money too early and then not be able to complete abd get in trouble? I just am at wits end with worry now and packing at the same time. Just saw letter this eve so cannot contct solicitors or Bank now.

what could happen?

i would sugggst not panicng but calling bank 1st thing in the morning

you are not a criminal... its just a simple mistake and someone somewhere must be able to sort it out... if in doubt ask for their boss / their manager etc

Dont panic (I work in a bank) solicitors can retain money overnight or inform bank to withhold funds for 24hours till 20th (it would be slightly more of a problem the other way round) call your solicitors first thing and they will deal with bank (although in theory the same letter would have gone to solicitors and this should have been noticed already) in fact if you are first in chain this may be handy as will get the money rolling quickly and ensure early completion time

Don't panic too much, I work for solicitors and quite often the money is requested for the day before completion so the solicitor has the money in advance. Also some lenders automatically send the money the day before completion too. Your solicitor will have had to have sent a certificate of title to the lender which will have the completion date on it.

Good luck with the move

Its not unknown for the mortgage to come the day before completion. Don't worry.
