Does anyone use plum?

Looking to start saving a bit of money & looking at the best way of doing that.

I also have a credit union so not sure if I'm best off with that?

I also have one with my bank, however it's too accessible.

Thanks

I love my Plum account! I never ever have to think about saving money into it, it magically takes a sum on pay day then rounds up all payments to the £ and saves the change. For me it effortlessly saves £100+ a month. Because i don't really check it much, I don't miss the money and it builds up nicely.

Oh, and I have two Plum accounts...one is instant access and the other takes a couple of days. So I log in every couple of months and move the instant access money into the other one where it gets more interest and it isn't accessible for spur of the moment spending!

Same as pp I have a primary pocket which I move into another pocket. Have saved nearly £400 over the last 3-4 months without really noticing!

Plum is great for the AI tools to squirrel your money away on your behalf, without you noticing. I only have the basic pocket with no interest, but regularly shift it into a Chase account for the interest.

It's a nifty way of saving but watch for the fees. I was saving a regular monthly amount plus round ups which do all build up without noticing - you can then invest in different funds.

Cheaper going with Vanguard or similar if you are saving £100 a month upwards, I've moved mine to them.

Another vote for Plum! It takes money weekly from my account and I also have it set to round ups. I was determined to get into a savings habit and it's worked well.

I might have, I did have one, not sure still live. I'll check.

TheFormidableMrsC · 04/03/2024 16:47

@Jonas25 I'm sorry, it's expired. It's easy to set up an account though. I'm so glad I did.

No worries. I will take a look. Do you know if you can see your mortgage account in there?

I have no idea. Mine is linked to my bank account and I have it set to round ups and allow them to number crunch to see how much I can save each week.
