Should I be doing this?

Hi

Are there any NHS staff here?

I've been working as a band 3 supervisor in an outpatient department for a few years now.

Since starting this job I've been expected to input wages for all the staff in the department. I'm more than capable of doing this but I've recently been told that a band 3 staff member shouldn't be inputting wages and it's the responsibility of higher bands (I was told that most staff who input wages are in the band 5 pay bracket).

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Also, who in my trust would I ask about this? I've emailed HR but had no response.

What do you mean by "inputting wages"? Our band 3s enter shifts/annual leave etc into our hr systems. Higher band will then authorise

Check your job description, as it should be in that, if not check with payroll. As PP mention, you may be required to input hours and expenses, but it is then signed off by manager

Hi

thank you for your response.

I input shifts, annual leave, sicknesses and suchlike on one system. Then overtime, enhancements any deductions etc on another system.

P.S. I'm more than happy to be told that yes, this is part of a band 3 supervisor's duties. I'm just curious to know as the other band 3 supervisor in the department has never inputted wages. Surely if this is part of the post we should both be doing it?

Check your job description, but would be part of a standard band 3 role here.
