Car insurance question

My son wrote off my car last year. He was on my insurance. He is now going to buy his own car and get his own insurance. Does he have to declare the accident when applying for insurance, or does he not have to as it was on my insurance policy? TIA

He needs to declare the accident regardless of whose insurance he was on or what car he was driving.

How else could he answer it but “yes”?

I don't think he knows the answer.
