The problem is proving that the money was spent on “fake” crypto as opposed to real crypto currency and also that the scam existed in the first place and op hasn’t just siphoned her money elsewhere.
@SmileyClare That could be very easily proven immediately based on the payments she made to the scammer and her lack of an actual cryptocurrency outside of the scammer's fake invention.
My Cuz has signed up for SMI ( a home loan with DWP paid when your house is sold). There still isn’t enough money to live on.
@Ariadneslostthread That was the loan I meant. So yes, the DWP have provided a loan. Sorry to hear there's a shortfall of £48 a month. I hope they come out the other side ASAP x
Contact your local MP, they'll get involved and the DWP will act pretty sharpish.
That's true, MP's can be very helpful. But they spent the money at the end of the day (albeit on things they considered necessary.)
I would have thought your family members will have no choice but to sell their house and live off the proceeds. It sounds like they’re malnourished and ill trying to live on no money.
They don't have to as the DWP covers their mortgage, they receive some PIP (although utilities aren't what they should have to use PIP on of course) and they use a food bank. I hope they're allowed to claim a fairly normal amount soon though, as that's no way to live.
