M&S Money credit card application - delay

PastorCarrBonarra · 27/12/2023 00:01

Bit of a niche question and I may get few replies, but I applied for the M&S zero percent credit card on 30th November but have heard nothing.

Twitter/X staff advise that I should’ve had a email reply, which is different to the contact centre guy I spoke to on 15th December who didn’t even ask for my details but told me that I needed to wait because of a backlog. Anyone else waiting for a reply?

It is a popular card because you get vouchers too, and it’s featured on the MSE site as a good one so I understand that they’d have had loads of applications, but it’s been nearly a month and my credit/employment history is good so …. 🤷‍♀️

I think it's very unusual that you didn't get an email confirmation. Sounds like it didn't fully go through. Did phone guy check it's actually showing on their systems?

PastorCarrBonarra · 27/12/2023 17:25

No he didn’t. I’ll chase up. Thanks!

I applied for mine in October and it came through quite quickly, as I recall. Best of luck. Smile

Thank you both.

I’ve checked my Clearscore credit report and M&S has not done a hard search (nor a soft, actually) which seems odd.

I applied for mine in November. Today I got an Adobe email about signing the agreement. The only other communication I got was 5 days after application saying they were working on it. Keep an eye open for Adobe signature email.

PastorCarrBonarra · 27/12/2023 22:16

Thank you @Ladychatterly86

I know that in the grand scheme of things, this is a trivial Money Matters post. But I am impatient because I wanted to put some home improvements on a zero percent card in January and keep my savings where they are (5%) until it’s time to pay it off. And get some M&S vouchers to boot! I like the food halls…

I had a hard search on my credit score (Transunion) account on 12th December having applied on 2nd December but no decision yet. No emails, no card in post, nowt. The Twitter account is rubbish - tried it, they’re just copying and pasting useless replies.

So ….you are not alone OP.

I know it's not M&S, but I applied for a Santander card for the same reason. Applied online, approved immediately, up and running within a couple of days. 15 months interest free.

Hello, have you now received your credit card? I also applied in Nov and was approved. I signed and returned the agreement online on 28th Nov (day it was sent). I chase M&S for an update every couple of weeks only to be repeatedly told that my application is ‘awaiting finalisation’ and then the card will be sent… I’m giving up hope

PastorCarrBonarra · 07/02/2024 16:23

Yes! It arrived on January 8th I think . I also got a £5 voucher offer to say sorry for the delay which will be added to my Sparks by end March.

I’m just on hold to M&S now, apparently my application was cancelled/expired on 26th Dec as they hadn’t completed a final check their end on time!! 😩 I’ve called at least 3 times since end of Dec and each time I was told it’s just at finalisation stage…
