Some online payments not going through

Hey all, bit of an odd one that I've never experienced before so figured I'd ask. I pay my grandmothers bills online with her card (gas, electric and water) and have done for ages with no issue. Last few times for gas/electric (British gas) her card (Lloyds) hasn't worked which is no biggie I just paid it from mine (Barclays) which went through fine. Now it's the same issue paying the water, obviously first thought would be the card is blocked etc but it works fine in stores, at cashpoints and other online services ie Amazon and PayPal. Second thought would be maybe the payment service but it's been different ones each time. Really not sure what to make of it.

Is it a Visa Electron card? If so, their use is slowly being phased out and it's possible your relative's utilities may have stopped accepting it already.

Are you using the card manually or is it stored with them? If they have the number stored do they have one with the correct expiry date? Sometime when a new card is sent out the card number might be the same but the expiry date will obviously be different, which will prevent it from working.
