Not sure if it’s common thing or not but a lot of my friends seem to spend a lot of money on gaming stuff , adult lego kits, cars etc etc. when I think back to my parents they didn’t really ever spend money on themselves to this degree but my generation ( am 42) seem to spend a lot on hobbies / interests

Yes and not just men. This generation is wealthier than previous ones and has more money to spend on non essentials. Lego, gaming, beauty treatments, pets, etc. Spending on such things has never been higher.

Depends on the men and depends on the hobbies. Lots of men (and women) pay huge monthly gym memberships, sports subs (plus kit, boots, clubs, bats, rackets, fishing rods, tents, etc). Lots of women I know spend a fortune on yarn and knitting patterns which may be equally expensive once it is averaged out. I would say there are a lot of cheaper hobbies too like jogging or reading. I would imagine it is hugely dependent on age, income, financial commitments, dependants, etc

Does travelling counts as a hobby? Then yes, we spent quite a bit on that, but cut on other things like eating out, clothes and other material things.

Yes they do...golf is v expensive

We holiday a bit together as a family so that is expensive over the year.

We have horses, that’s always a fun way to blow a fortune 😆

What do you mean by interests? I don't really have any hobbies but both my husband and I spend a lot of socialising, traveling and other experiences.

My husband spends €90 a month on CrossFit and then a bit more on protein powders and stuff. That's the only real hobby he has.

Yep.
Was horses for me, now flying.

You only have to look at a horse or a plane and your bank account empties.
