Uc backdate carers element and child’s disability element

Hi

anyone received the backdated payments of child element and disability element. I was accepted for both due to being accepted for dla for my son back in may but only received the carers part backdated and heard nothing from disability (I have the approved letters in my journal for both) I keep leaving messages in journal but I never get a reply.I got the carers element backdated on the 2nd nov and was approved on the 23rd October for both elements to be backdated.

Hi I know this post isn't new anymore but I'm just curious how long did it take them to make a decision on backdate? Then to pay it? Just been informed I should be eligible for carers element from when my carers allowance started which was Feb 22.

Hi took a few weeks for the carers element to be backdated and for a decision to be made I think was a few weeks also.

I’m waiting on tax credits backdating mine he is on highest amount was accepted last November (22) and got from April back and they have ignored 2 forms online and a letter asking why they haven’t backdated it to his date it was awarded. V frustrating hope it’s sorted for you soon I think uc is better for paying backdated £ than Tc

Hi did you get the disabled child element backdate in the end? I am going through this now, had both confirmations of backdate in letters in my journal but only received backdate for carers x

Hi, I did can’t remember which one I got first but it took weeks to get sorted,I just kept calling them for a update x

Hey I have been going the carers element backdating process and it's taken forever. I have just received a message stating they are happy to backdate it to November as this is when I apply for DLA for my daughter. Can I ask how long did it took them to complete the payment? Thank you for your help

i had two letters in my journal saying I was approved for special circumstances for carers backdate and disabled child backdate, day after I had another letter in my journal saying how much I was getting back dated. It was in my account 3 days later, but still nothing on the disabled child element backdate payment. I keep writing in my journal daily and they said its been sent to a specialist team. Good luck xx

Can I just ask something as uc are driving me crazy!! They've made a decision and backpayed the disabled child element no problem, so far it's been 9 weeks and they haven't even sent carers element to a decision maker, they're saying because I now recieve carers allowance it created an overpayment and not an underpayment...as far as I'm aware you can claim both carers element and allowance as that's what I'm doing. I've spoken to debt management and they've not even received notice of the overpayment due to carers allowance but when they do I can repay in installments.

They've then said my statements have been amended from Feb (dla awarded from) so I've had the carers element, again I haven't and bank statements can prove this as can see the difference in statement amount and amount recieved again the difference is amount for carers element and disabled child element.

I've put in a complaint due to this and the fact I've been told 4 times it would be sent to decision maker and it hasn't been, they've said also when the issued backpayment it only showed for disabled child element and I said well yeah ofcourse it would it's the only element that's been asked for backpay, even though another person said I'd get both backdated they just wrote disabled child element on the letter 🙄🙄🙄

Am I right in thinking I am due backpayment of the carers element feb to July as my first statement woth both elements actually paid was August

@CyanFawn carers allowance is deducted £ for £ from universal credit so if you got a huge backdate of carers allowance, you would have been overpaid universal credit for that same time period
.. the carers element is then part of your UC award so I'm not sure if that'd even things out rather than an over or underpayment.

They've already told me I have an overpayment for carers allowance, just it hasn't been processed yet so debt management can't tell me how much it is, surely if they're going to make me payback the carers allowance overpayment they'd still owe me the carers element, disabled child element is part of uc too and they've backpayed that.

If they take what's owed on carers element from the carers allowance overpayment that's fine with me also which I've explained they should just say aswell

Hi there, I asked for my carers element and disabled child element to be backdated Monday and I’ve been accepted by the decision maker to get both backdated how long will I be waiting to recieve the payments?

It took weeks for mine to come through, I did have to chase them quite abit

I’m hoping as the decision maker didn’t take long I’m hoping this payment does take too long to come through. Also does your carers element affect any of your uc?

they paid one element before the other with me sm sure but it did take a while, if it’s the carers element of uc it doesn’t affect uc at all, if it’s carers allowance than yes it would.

Hi I was wondering do you get the disabled child element backdated to when DLA accepted as online it’s saying you don’t get that much and only from when you told universal credit but then I’m being told it can be dated back to when he was accepted.

I know this is an old post but how lomg did you end uo waiting after decision to backpay was made x
