Dla & tax credit back payment

Hi there, so I was on tax credits my son was awarded dla in may backdated to November 2022, I let tc know, then heard nothing. Then phoned and got a random 1014 payment. Then 2 letters, one 22-23 with kids names no sign of dla for youngest. Then 23/24 with how much he gets etc laid out. So sent a mandatory reconsideration on advice of tax credit phone advisor to ask if it actually had been backdated to the November, he’s on high rate care and the amount he’s got from April - now £14 per day so back dated to November is more than 1k. Then migrated to UC and sent letter I owe £1.7k it’s almost impossible to get any sense out of them. I write and get nothing back and nothing from the letters they’ve sent.

The phone advisers seem to know very little too. If he’s entitled to a back payment and I’ve let them know in time why is it so hard to write a letter telling me what he’s due and why. If he’s not fine or if for whatever reason he’s not getting it as I owe money fine but lay that out in a way I can understand. Anyone else had issues? Am frustrated beyond belief at the poor communication from them. they are quick to claw money back, no idea how I pay this overpayment either.

The disability BP really messes my claim up a few months back. My son was awarded at tribunal after nearly 80 weeks. The BP was huge. It took 6 week for them to agree. I was then accused of fraudulently undeclaring my earnings for the last 3 years and they used the BP to take back the alleged OP. I raised a complaint due to the tone of their letter (very accusatory) and stressed I pay into a NEST pension. Every year I send them my statements to prove my contributions but for some reason they had nothing on file. I sent my statements in again and I got an apology but one year still remains incorrect. Its been a bloody joke and I'm sick of fighting it now.

I was made to wait 5 weeks for them to investigate yet when they suspected the OP they took the money back immediately!

I've seen alot recently how people have migrated over from TC and are now being pursued to alleged OPs dating back 12 years. The whole thing absolutely scares me. I keep all my final award notices, I am able to prove my pension contributions but they seem to be randomly hitting people with OPs

Sorry I should have said, when they sent the back payment to the specialist team it reopened the 3 tax years it went over. Rather than using the figure they finalised each years claim they decided to use the earnings declared on my P60s (Nest contributions are paid from your net and tax is reclaimed) hence there being a difference.
But they spoke to me like I was a criminal and being fraudulent. Really got me down when I do everything by the book

@Anono1001 that is so shocking I am glad I’m moving away from tax credits goodness knows if they will actually let me know what is due the letters make no sense at all, I don’t think they know what they are doing half the time. If they’d only send a letter saying
you are due this but due to this we will give you this instead of the nonsense you get which is just re hashed award notices with no information on whatsoever.

thank you for your reply, I hope they do something soon, I’ve put it all in writing for them and will post as doing it online has got me nowhere so far
