Carers allowance for daughter

Helpmeout124 · 27/10/2023 13:44

My daughter has just been awarded middle rate dla allowance for autism/ global developmental delay and good issues. She's 3. My partner is tradesman and I work 13 hours a week in a shop I earn about £135 a week. I've applied for carers allowance. Does this sound right? As in are we elligable?

I believe so, given what you've said.

The earnings limit is £139 after deductions. You might need to be careful around that if you have any chance of extra hours etc.

Lougle · 27/10/2023 14:01

Yes, although you're very close to the limit of £139 per week, so be careful.

PokeyLaFarge · 27/10/2023 14:02

As above^
It's £139 a week
If you go even a penny over that they WILL contact you.
Carers allowance is £70 ish per week

I would make sure you are paying even a nominal amount into a pension OP, to keep you well within the maximum earnings for Carers Allowance. Other than that yep, apply ASAP!

Helpmeout124 · 27/10/2023 14:17

so I've just checked my payslip I want £142 a week how bloody annoying, £3 over that's because my rate went up to £11.11

You can deduct half your pension so pay £6-£10 extra in a week to give you a buffer.

HazelTheGreenWitch · 27/10/2023 23:29

I think that you can also deduct travel expenses and uniform, but I don't know how exactly.

Babyroobs · 29/10/2023 17:21

If you are eligible for Universal credit you can still claim the carers element of Uc even if you earn too much to claim carers allowance.
