Amazon payment…

Thought I’d get in early with some Christmas shopping, and bought £150 worth of stuff off Amazon. Everything fine and it all arrived the next day as always.

The payment was ‘pending’ on my online bank statement, and the amount in my account showed as £150 down. Not unusual for things to show as pending, but normally they disappear after a day or two. This one didn’t though. It stayed pending for a week. Now it’s disappeared and my account has £150 more in it!

Does this mean that somehow I’ve got the stuff for free?! Surely not…

Did you get email notifications of all these things as having been delivered?

If so, yes. Enjoy your free stuff!

Unless they were clothes or shoes, which is 'try before you buy.' They give you 7 days to return them without charging you at all.

No, they’re not clothes. Yeah, got the emails when they were delivered.

What a strange bit of good fortune. Actually the second similar thing in a couple of months. The first time I was filling the car at one of those unstaffed supermarket petrol stations, and the pump broke after I’d put almost a full tank in. That charge was pending for a week and never taken either.
