UC migration

Received my migration letter from UC today.
I have until the second week of January to switch over from Working Tax credits/child TC.
Is it best to do it now or wait until nearer the end date?
Thanks for any advice.

Are you working?

If so on what day of the month are you paid?

funbags3 · 18/10/2023 15:41

@Bromptotoo
I am a carer for my daughter who has DS and my partner works. Paid at the end of the month.

If he's paid on the last working day avoid claiming around that time as, were he paid early due to bank hols etc, you can end up with two dollops of salary in the same Assessment Period. It can now be sorted but it's a pain in the derriere you're better off without.

Thanks @Bromptotoo Would it be better waiting until January to put in a claim?

@funbags3 not sure there's much gain in leaving it until last minute. Understand people don't want to do it in a way that might cross with Xmas but you've a month in hand before that's a risk.
