Natwest Mobile App - biometric approval

What fresh hell is this? I got a new phone and accidentally set this up as I thought it was just linking the iphone facial recognition on my phone so I could open the Natwest app with it as I had on my old phone.

Oh no, it's a completely separate facial recognition thing to approve which is utterly dreadful - it doesn't seem to like any lighting conditions other than bright daylight, doesn't like my reading glasses, wants me to put my face exactly in the oval everytime with my nose practically on my phone, then blink. But I can't read any of the sodding instructions as I've had to take my reading glasses off.

And it seems to want me to approve every single bloody app transaction with it now - even £5 pocket money to the DC!

I think I've managed to disable it now, but even that took a while as it needed biometric approval to do that1

I found it annoying to set up and I wear specs as well. Now it’s there I just use it when needed- not every transaction; but my phone is quite old.

same would not recognise my face,then got locked out ffs

out of 10 attempts i recognised once,im going to look into getting rid

Works fine for me 🤷. I have worn my glasses to set it up on my last 2 phones (although being short sighted it wouldn't impact me if I had to take them off).

DH had to use it for the first time at the weekend. After watching him blinking and pulling faces trying to get it to work I said do you think whoever made this up was taking the piss?
