Do UC ever reply?

Just that really. I have messaged 3 times on my journal and I'm not getting a response. How long do they normally take to respond? Thanks

It's very hit and miss ime. My work coach seems to reply within 1 working day.

I've sent 4 messages about an underpayment on the correct section of the journal. I've had no replies. I've phoned once and spoken to someone in the jobcentre. They both told me to message on my journal Angry

I think it depends on what you're asking, how complicated it is, and urgency. "I'm sorry but I'm going to be 5 mins late for my appointment due to traffic" is responded to straight away, in my experience. However when I query my incorrect rent entitlement (which has been confirmed as wrong, it just needs someone to sort it) there is no reply indefinitely.

Sleeplessnightssss · 16/10/2023 13:20

It must be an underpayment thing then because thats what my message was about and its being ignored! They've took money from me for carers allowance which I no longer get.

Then it's likely to be carers allowance you need to speak to to make sure they have properly closed down your carers allowance claim rather than just suspended it which is what they often do.

Sleeplessnightssss · 16/10/2023 16:01

@Babyroobs yes I have spoken with carers allowance and the claim has been closed and I also have received a letter from them stating the claim is closed, hence why I have been trying to contact Uc

What drop down are you using for your messages?

Sleeplessnightssss · 16/10/2023 16:17

@Nochoiceleft Payments?

@Nochoiceleft Payments?

Just call them again. Knock back any attempt to fob you off. They can speak about it over the phone. I've had to insist a couple of times

Sandalholidays12 · 16/10/2023 16:40

You need to call them. You won't have a case worker if you're not looking for work. I always ring them

Sleeplessnightssss · 16/10/2023 16:53

Okay thankyou I'll try phoning them

Nochoiceleft · 16/10/2023 17:45

@Sandalholidays12 she will have a case manager. All claims do. She may not be allocated a work coach.
Payments messages go to your case manager but they have extremely large case sizes so it can take a while to get a response.

@Nochoiceleft ahh your correct apologies I meant work coach. UC system isn't equipped like the old system I notice when you ring UC the advisors (no fault of their own) can do very little and they know nothing. I'm not surprised cases are high because an advisor just listens and tells you to write on your journal. When you need payments sorting it's no bloody good.

Working tax credits were fab especially for the childcare side they sorted payments within a week.

Babyroobs · 16/10/2023 19:27

If you need a message to go to your case manager you need to put it under ' payments' which it sounds like you are doing, but yes I would ring them if case manager not responding - the phone operators can pass a message onto case manager to call you.
