EBay missing item

Hi,

Not sure where to post.

Just sold my bedroom set on eBay for well below whats it's worth, but needed space.

The person collected, but has now come back saying the slat ends are missing (I put them in a bag in the chest of drawers) I could kick my self, I showed him where the screws/ bolts were but not the slat ends, there are like over 60 of them so you can't miss them.

He says he can't find them. I am 100% they were in there and I've also had a look around and nothing.

I don't really want to pay £40+

I know eBay favour the buyer Hmm

Any words of wisdom?

Exactly why I no-longer sell via eBay. ☹️

Unfortunately a case will probably be opened and in all honesty, eBay will probably side with the buyer unless you have any photos of the bed being collected showing the missing items were there.

Agree and the fact the fees are astronomical

If he collected then he paid cash on collection, yes? And with collection, he is meant to check them over.
Ebay won’t get involved when the money was cash on collection and sold as seen.

Just tell him where you put the slats, and that as there are 60 of them, you know they haven’t been forgotten because it took time to pack them up. You know you did it, you know he is lieing. Don’t be afraid to just say that.

He paid beforehand though 😩

Why? When someone is collecting, you always take cash on collection.
He doesn’t even have to say stuff is missing; he can just say you never answered the door and get his money back.

At least it’s a lesson for the future but you’re going to lose your money on this one.

I asked for cash on collection, he paid via eBay stating he missed that bit of the message until later.

Yes defo lesson learnt
