For an 8 figure business builder to have such a terrible grasp of how to run a profitable business is embarassing.

I wouldn’t mind being a fly on the wall of that accountancy firm they all use, not that I’d be a particularly useful spy as I am no accountant. What do accountants think when they’ve got quite a few non viable businesses all called Forever Something or Other Ltd on their books, with large loans rolling from year to year? I’m pretty sure the accountancy firm we (DH and I) use would be twitchy with us if we were doing what Yawn is doing for instance.

Her FL owes a subsidiary 105k (which I’m guessing is the now defunct planner business)

She will have to write off that creditor which will then be treated as income and she will have to pay tax (she has left cash in the bank

I’m sure there must be some interesting cross referencing to do between Castle’s businesses and the business belonging to her parents. I’m not the person to do it but I can’t help thinking Castle Senior Ltd is a dwindling bail out fund for Castle and it doesn’t look quite the picture of health it did.

My area of expertise revolves around the tax implications and procedures for people setting up new businesses. For this reason I’ve just steeled myself to watch most of Castle’s live on this topic with the accountant who can hardly get a word in edgeways.

Sorry folks, but I couldn’t make it to the end, I tried my best, it’s excruciating.

The whole thing is confusing and misleading. Castle pushing the narrative that you can set off your weekly food shop against tax because you’ve bought a toilet roll for a client to use in your home for instance. She repeatedly pushes an example of someone on £2k/month being able to have self employment income of £1k free of tax, and claim £312 wfh. That £1k is Trading Income Allowance and is per annum, not monthly. The £312 is also an annual allowance, but it is a claim in terms of tax, so £312 at your highest rate (likely 20%), just £62.40.

So much is not mentioned, and it would have been easy enough to simply put together the basics on a sheet of A4. But then that would be useful information and maybe give a few bots food for thought. The last thing Castle wants is her bots thinking.

No one would be any the wiser after this live than before it, it was utterly useless.

That accountant, if that’s what she is, should be bloody ashamed of herself. Castle of course is beyond shame. A dangerous nasty piece of work.

It’s incredible how ignorant she is regarding tax. Maybe her content should be brought to the attention of RC. Imagine the chaos if HMRC were to target FL businesses. They frequently do target specific business types in order to wring out what they can. Since FL pay direct into bank accounts and most of the big bots do not do direct selling, therefore no cash that you can hide, they could have a field day.

Laughing at the toilet roll deduction. My ex boss was investigated and HMRC questioned the amount he was claiming for newspapers and magazines, dental practice with a waiting room, HMRC disallowed it based on the amount he was paying monthly. They went back twenty years and he had a bill of nearly 20k to pay.
Most people think they can only go back 7 years but that is just the initial investigation. If they find an anomaly they can go back as far as they deem necessary.
When you are self employed it really does pay to stick to the rules and find a good accountant. One that is not famous for clients who have ended up in trouble.
