I noticed that she had a large calor gas canister behind her on one of her story photos. I wonder if they have had a leak and are using a large space heater to dry out. Although in a thatched property it may be a serious fire risk.
We have a leak around our gas fire flue and speaking to the roofer who came out to quote yesterday, they are snowed under after the recent storm.

I was told by a fireman that thatched houses shouldn't really have wood burners installed, they should have open fires because they're not so intense, woodburners have a huge concentration of heat going up the chimney past the straw roof and unless your flue and chimney is lined within an inch of it's life then you should use them with caution..

@Wintersgirl lots of insurers won’t insure a thatched house with a wood burning stove for the reasons you cite. A friend of mine with a thatched house has to keep finding a new insurer as companies who have been prepared to insure a thatched house think better of it, and she hasn’t even got log burners. Her house insurance is £2k a year and they inspect the thatch.

I’m really wondering how Yawn gets insurance based on the bodge job she’s done on the house, the wood burner, the state of the thatch and the fact it’s vulnerable to flooding. The only thing in its favour is that it’s clearly not listed. She’s going to need to shift a lot of Aloe Vera to cover the cost.

Castle has now moved on to a meal prep service as it's 'quicker and cheaper' than cooking for herself as she's so busy 🙄. I'm

YouOKHun We've looked at a few thatched cottages over the years, I do love them as they're very pretty and have character but I would worry non stop regarding the roof, plus the insurance is off puting too
