Update on my dishwasher that caught fire.

I wrote Zanussi a letter yesterday saying that even though it was 4 years old I expect a refund.

They can't have got the letter yet but have rung this afternoon, unfortunately they spoke to dh. They are sending someone to repair the dishwasher.

Now I guess as we caught it while it was at the smouldering stage it is repairable. I'm not sure I want it repaired.

They are entitled to repair it first based on its age. If the fault cannot be repaired and its still under guarantee you should be offered a replacement.

Your dishwasher caught fire! How exciting..or perhaps scary.

Is it under guarantee?

Its not under guaranteee. However the Slae of Goods Act gives you extended rights for up to 6 years with large electrical items. I've been researching .

However I spoke to trading standards last night and unfortunately I have to accept the repair.
