So we purchased a used car on finance early this year (approx 5k) for it to have all blown up (literally) as the engine had gone and various other issues (7k repair bill). We've raised a complaint with garage who pointed the finger at anyone else at all and followed a complaint process with the finance company who say they find for garage as no evidence car was not fit for purpose. I have a car on finance already costing us plenty so a third finance not an option and we are stuck paying for this unfit for purpose car for 4.5 years. Has anyone got any advice on what we can do or just accept and either pay thousands to fix or get a runaround and carry on paying for a car that doesn't exist /scrapped!?

By any chance did you take out gap insurance?

What make of car? Renault and Nissan 1.2 engines have known faults from 2015-18.

No gap insurance or warranty.

Interesting re the engine faults. Is that common knowledge/ can be evidenced at all?

Have a look at the about info in the Facebook group if your car is Nissan/ Renault 1.2. Those with affected engines are likely to trade them in so no surprise if you bought one. Nissan and Renault are denying fault in UK but in France a court case is going through. A new engine in a private garage is approx 3k.
