I purchased a car a year ago ( second hand). My circumstances have now changed and I need to claim benefit . The car was 10k. Will I still be able to claim as they may think I have deprived myself of my savings ?

Thanks

My pretty bog standard 2016 Skoda Fabia would retail for not far short of £10k. That money is way out supercar territory.

I'd be amazed if it was even mentioned.

The issue with deprivation of capital is intent - are you shovelling money out so as to get benefit or more benefit. An ordinary car at an ordinary price is nowhere near meeting that test.
