Right 3 years ago next month I had some tests done privately after my work medical recommended them. As tests were part of medical recommendation, they were meant to be covered by insurance so gave our details and thought nothing of it.

A week ago I get a call (or to be more precise 2 messages on my work /mobile phone ) from some clerk at the hospital saying that they hadnt got claim sorted and could I provide details. I did ask why it had taken them THREE YEARS to chase me on this but they claimed was due to a personnel change were picking up admin.

Does anyone know if there is any limit on how long insurance claims are valid? I'm concerned that this may be out of time due to hospital inefficiency. Sorry if this sounds a bit ranty -Athe man is now getting on mynerves (has left 2 more voice messages) and I find it irritating that I'm being hassled for their inefficiencies three years after the event.

I think it's 6 months but it depends on your insurance company. It's very rubbish of them to leave it this long.

thanks avenanap - I totally agree re time -it took me a minute to remember what on earth I was doing there 3 years ago.

I won't be very pleased if we end up paying for this due to their inefficiency.
