Late / no pension payments

Hi,

Ive recently received an email from my pension provider saying my employer has been consistently late paying in my pension and it’s been reported to the regulator.

I should have had payments going in since April and even though I’ve had a pension deduction from my salary each month, there’s £0 in my pension, so mine and the employers contributions are missing. We’ve been told it will be sorted asap but what do yous think?

Could the company be on the brink of running into the ground? I’m gutted to say the least. Thanks .

Yes it’s possible but by no means definite.

This happened at a company I worked for when they went through a rough patch, tough choices meant they prioritised paying wages and could not spend what they didn’t have despite their obligations.

Thankfully it was only for a few months for me before being rectified so be concerned but hope it works out okay.

Thanks for sharing this @LucifersPain thats really helpful. I have everything crossed it’s just a blip, it was just a bit worrying to see £0 in my pension even though I’ve been deducted.

I had this, no payments then they made up for it in one month so payments not evenly spread out. It got sorted out but i still don't understand how they worked out the compensation for loss of pension growth.

Mine's a big company, no chance of going bust. It was due to bad financial management and incompetence and I think the people responsible left/got fired.

Thanks for sharing @Amboseli . It’s crazy how things like this can be brushed off.

Im trying to stay relaxed about it but it’s sending major alarm bells.

Depending on the size of your company it could simply be hr forgetting. I say this as someone who processed the payments until I left and discovered that since they failed to pay!

Thanks @gogomoto i really hope it’s that! We got an apology for it but no reason why other than we tried to resolve it previously. Going to be positive and hope it’s just a mishap for a few months.
