Universal Credit question

I'm in the process of making a UC claim and wanted to get an idea of what to expect as I'm new to it, have never claimed anything before.
I have nowhere near £16 in savings and I'm currently trying to set myself to work as a self-employed person in a beauty-related field. I've paid a lot for my exams, qualifications and equipment, although still not full qualified. I anticipate being ready in next couple of months.
Question is, in the meantime, would I be entitled to claim UC. I don't have enough to live off savings until my business gets off the ground.
I'm single, no kids and live alone.

Yes but you would have to job search for a regular job until you set up a self employed.

As above you can claim if you have little or no income but will need to meet work search commitments.
