Default Dates on credit report

Hi everyone,

I’m hoping for a bit of advice on my credit report.

Bit of a backstory, I was in an abusive relationship for a number of years where my ex took out a considerable amount of credit in my name and then didn’t pay most of it back. I finally managed to leave him last year and set up payment plans for the accounts that were showing on my credit report. When I checked my credit report last month a company called Lowell have added 5 defaults to my file. I’ve contacted them in a panic and they’ve sent me a list of accounts they hold under my details but they’re all from over 6 years ago which I assume is why they weren’t showing on my credit file when I looked post break up.

is there anything I can do about this? Can they just randomly add defaults years down the line? I was young and stupid when I was with my ex and should have stuck up for myself more but it just feels like I can’t get on top of things at the moment

A default disappears 6 years from the last payment or acknowledgement of debt.
What dates have they put on?
you can opt for a notice of correction- this has to be read but you can’t guarantee that it will be considered when reviewing your credit file
