BOTWATCH 78 - the latest in a long series of threads where we keep an eagle eye on the lies and deceptions practised by MLMs. Unbelievably people are still being hooked in by these schemes where 97% of those who join LOSE MONEY and the top bots are struggling to pretend they are taking it in

Shiny new thread 😀 Thank you @Spongebobette

Twentytwentyhindsight · 04/08/2023 17:36

Cheers @Spongebobette

Thanks for the new thread. Off to look at Nurse’s AMA. Presumably “AMA but only if you are approved in my closed group. You will be deleted and blocked if the question is in any way worth asking”.

YouOKHun · 04/08/2023 17:52

Where is the AMA @Spongebobette? I have questions!

Norma27 · 04/08/2023 17:59

Thank you @Spongebobette

Spongebobette · 04/08/2023 18:08

she announced it on her Insta but I’m not sure if it’s on there or in her private Fb group

Thank you!

Yawn will use the excuse that having a new puppy to train and settle in means she can't go on a super dooper long haul summer holiday this year. Not that she ever goes on one.

kittykitty007 · 04/08/2023 19:05

Place marking 😁

YouOKHun · 04/08/2023 19:07

Yawn claiming to have made £1200 pure profit this month from “retail” only (not recruiting), having only worked three weeks. This is simply by chatting about products in passing. It’s the answer to the cost of living crisis apparently.

I wonder who those product customers were?

Spongebobette · 04/08/2023 19:08

hmm how much product did she have to flog to make that much profit I wonder?

I'm literally place marking as I'm literally off up to manifest my preapproved questions and answers. Cheers hun xx

Spongebobette · 04/08/2023 19:26

How exciting, literally

Notnownurse AMA is as spectacularly dull as expected. Yawns £1200 profit is really crap considering how long she has been doing it, I mean that won’t even tough the sides of running a house like she has. That means she needs to do a lot of recruitment and also keeping her team happy and spending to make up the rest.

WilkinsonM · 04/08/2023 20:49

Nurse told on herself with her insta stories - she's so excited and surprised that she's actually been sent questions that it makes it completely obvious whenever she talks about getting messages she's totally lying

Temporaryname158 · 04/08/2023 20:54

I am part of an MLM. I know I am and knew that when I joined.

pros: I do get all my products genuinely for free and make money each month.

cons: I have never pretended to, nor do I make loads of money, it’s a small sideline that tops up my income so I can afford the kids various clubs each month

i am fed up within the MLM group of talk of manifesting BS

my upline manager is always trying to get people to buy stuff at home bargains etc to gift/spread the word and get people to join under you. No thanks! I’ve got better things to do than that!

so in essence, I recognise I am part of it but it works for me and I don’t spout all the rubbish but can totally see that most people involved are huns who just want to sell their granny for the next sale!

stockpilingallthecheese · 04/08/2023 21:39

Which MLM are you part of, @Temporaryname158? Do you have a team or do you rely on retail profit? 😃

Temporaryname158 · 04/08/2023 21:54

@stockpilingallthecheese i sell Tropic skincare

no I don’t have a team, I don’t want a team and do nothing to attain one. The money I make is from my sales and in fairness the cut is good (25%). Like I say, I went into it for my own freebies and to earn a bit extra. I make about £50-80 a month profit. It’s not loads but in these economic times it means I buy literally no toiletries or make up (as I get those free) and make a small amount that helps pay the bills and contributes to the extras for my kids as I’m a single parent and I can earn this money sat at home.

the most I’ve ever made in a month is £600

YouOKHun · 04/08/2023 22:43

@Temporaryname158 I have questions! What do you mean by free product? Is that a kind of part payment to you? Do you spend any money on products for yourself?

Also, how easy is it to sell? I know a few people who have tried to sell it and have found that, even in a monied area, it’s expensive and the people who can really afford to splash out have loyalty to other expensive brands they can get their hands on easily online, to which they ultimately returned and stopped buying Tropic. People have told me that Tropic started off in a promising way for them but ultimately no one needs a moisturiser or whatever that often and the “supportive” purchases soon faded away. After that it wasn’t sustainable as a means of earning money and coupled with the tide turning against MLM since the pandemic, people were hostile to approaches however nice and unpushy the approach was. So others I’ve spoken to have said it wasn’t sustainable as any kind of income.

It’s good to hear you recognise you’re in an MLM because Tropic is famously in denial about that! While I appreciate what you are saying about not getting involved in the recruitment side and all that comes with it, I still feel that ultimately MLM is predatory and any attachment to it (buying their products, supporting a friend who sells it etc) still risks contributing to the ongoing scam. And though you clearly don’t want to exploit people your personal good conduct doesn’t change the fact that MLMs are inherently bad. Tropic isn’t the very worst of MLM but it is part of the problem imho. I hear you re the manifesting BS, it’s absolute cultspeak!

LibyanFeet · 05/08/2023 01:25

Did somebody mention Tropic? 😂🦶

Sugarplum48 · 05/08/2023 08:59

Ooh nice new Fred. Cheers muchos

YouOKHun · 05/08/2023 09:10

@LibyanFeet I know Tropic is your particular favourite!

Temporaryname158 · 05/08/2023 09:14

@YouOKHun yes the free products are on top of the 25%. So you earn 25% of anything you sell in money and 15% in products.

so if I sell £200 worth in a month I earn £50 ‘cash’ and £30 of products. I don’t wear loads of make up so I’m not using tonnes of that a month but it bought all I have and pays for all skincare for my face, body, shower gels (or equivalents) shampoo etc.

it’s been harder to sell since the COL crisis but actually if you Google the cost of organic skincare and then theirs the prices aren’t expensive and so from a value point of view it’s good.

I sold the most during Covid when people were in 2 camps, those who had lost jobs a had little money in my experience were joining MLM’s to try and make some or those who had loads of ‘extra’ money as they had holidays cancelled and couldn’t go out. Skincare like lots of other online sectors were booming and I fairly easily used to sell £2500 a month. This averaged out to £800 until COL and that has understandably reduced what people can afford to spend on luxury items which any skincare products above soap are!

I think anyone who is suggesting it is an income are lying. There are very very few who can make a monthly income out of this. Some do, and make huge amounts of money, but they were often early joiners who have big teams under them. (I find these are the ones spouting about manifesting, the cult like posters on Facebook and those who have little grip on reality money wise now they are rich)

for 99% of people it is a small top up of monthly income and shouldn’t be presented as anything other than that

Temporaryname158 · 05/08/2023 09:15

I should add you get more than 25% the more you sell so this is what drives some people I guess
