Cashing up money into my bank account.

My mum lives abroad and owns there a house and some other estate like a part of forest and fields and some vineyards.
She sold some of these as she is not interested in maintaining them as getting old.
She gave me some of the money and I want to bring this money to UK. ( it’s apprx £5k) for my use and put them into my bank account as it’s in cash.
Will be able to bring it with me next time I go there or do need to declare it, what about cashing it up into my british bank account, do I need to prove where it’s from etc, like bring some translated paperwork?
Thank you.x

If you open a Cosmo account you can easily transfer it though there is a small fee and you then transfer it to your bank account.

My mum won’t be able open account like that, she is not that clever on computer, hence deals with cash only.

You can declare it online on the Gov website in advance before you arrive back to the UK with the cash.
https://www.gov.uk/bringing-cash-into-uk#:~:text=You%20must%20declare%20cash%20of,need%20to%20make%20a%20declaration.

And, I'm not 100% certain, but I would guess that if you file it with Gov, and print out the declaration, then you could possibly also use that declaration when going into your bank to deposit it.

I meant you can open the Cosmo account. You apply online and it takes about a week to open. Ideal for international transactions. You can then transfer it to your everyday bank account.

Will she be giving it to you in cash? If so in which currency?
