Bank receipts

My bank has a cash limit on payments.

When I attempted a large transfer a few years ago, I was forced into a long conversation with their Fraud Department before I was allowed to do what I wanted with my own money.

Does anyone know if there is there a cash limit on a receipt that would trigger alarm bells with the bank ?

Nothing illegal, just the return of the large loan I made.

Thank you.

I understand that the checks tend to happen when you try to move the money. My mother has been downsizing from overseas and asked me to let her bank know about a large transfer before it happened - they said they didn't need to know. She's transferred us largeish amounts once in the past and again more recently. I remember being asked for details about the origin of one lot of money some time after it arrived. And like you I recently tried to move an amount above a limit I didn't know about which led to a stop on my account till I'd spoken to the fraud team about what I was trying to do.
