Long story short. I answered one of those dodgy numbers that called. I had £80 put on my bill, I’ve got a recently taken out upgrade on my phone as I’ve always kept up to date. Been with same company for 11 years. Won’t say provider as worried about being sued lol not sure about law etc but I said I can’t pay they admitted it’s completely out the norm for my billing cycle but nothing they can do. I can’t afford to pay :(

they said they will send it over to collections, will I be able to pay money like £6 per month towards the bill and contract as I’ve just accepted I will be cut off as I’ve lost my rent home. Living with family can’t afford £80 for answering a spam call abroad I’ve had no help from them. They said they are sorry but they can’t do anything to help.

will I be sent to court? Thank you

So the £80 was a one off charge applied via your phone account?

What were you sold that it was supposed to pay for?

I doubt any phone company will take you to court for £80; would cost more than that in their time and court fees. Furthermore, they already know you're potless (sorry!) and couldn't pay anyway.

What they will do is send you all sorts of threats and if there's no result put it in the hands of, ie sell the debt to, collectors. These things can go round and round being sold on for ever decreasing fractions if the debt.

You'll probably lose your number though.

@Bromptotoo haha thank you for your comment. It was one of those dodgy spam numbers and it charged me £80 it’s terrible and they haven’t helped give me any kind of help even though they admitted that it’s very unusual for my account as I never go over my contract fee. Thank you :)

They won't take you to court, they want you to speak to them to arrange a repayment plan. They would only take further action if you don't do that or if you don't keep up with payments.
