Pension Transfer Order

Hi - I am in the process of divorcing and have agreed a pension transfer with my STBXH. I want my share of his pension to transfer into my occupational scheme. Does anyone have any experience of doing this? I'm trying to find out if its straightforward and can be done by just supplying my pension provider with the account details and have asked my pension company but they are taking a while to respond to me. I'm hoping I dont have to pay an IFA to do this. Thanks in advance...

Not all occupational schemes will accept a transfer in of a pension credit (which is what you would have once the pension sharing order is put in place). You need to check with your occupational scheme if they will accept it. If they will then yes it should just be a case of giving your ex-husband’s provider the details of your occupational scheme so they can pay the transfer.

If your occupational scheme won’t accept it then you will either need to leave the pension credit with your ex-husband’s provider or set up a private pension arrangement to transfer it to.
